1 cant be inferred(with subsidy, outside control)
3 is out, for subsidy and for profit are alternatives.
5 is converse of 4
2 and 4 are kinda supported by the argument if we dont care much about modal verbs--will and must.
I'd chose 4
Agree with D
D is the answer. BTW Paul your explanation is always apprecited![]()

vreddy, why not 2. Please provide some in detail explanation.
it's D.
Point 1) if the press is not profit making, then it is forced to be subsidize. if its subsidized then there is outside control. I diagramed it to look like this: no Profit-->Subsidized-->Outside Control. (reversal of this is: no outside control--> Not subsidized-->then profitable)
Point2) if there is honest journalism, then no subsidies. HJ-->Not Subsidized.
From Point 1's reversal, we found that "Not subsidized-->profitable" so you can add on to point #2. Conclude that HJ-->Not Subsidized-->Profitable (or HJ-->Profitable)
hope that helps!
Setup
Press= Profit making
( outside control = propaganda ) -- > easily subsidized
no honest journalism = subsidized
But:
If (Press = no profit) & (press = no subsidized) --> no survivial
If (press= no profit) & (press = subsidized) --> survival
A) wrong. it doesn't mention that profit making companies are free from control.
B) no , it just won't have to resort to subsidies.
C) no, it only says that not profit making companies must be subsized
