Architect seeking advice!
Dear All,
I am an architect by profession, and completed my under graduate degree from India in 2001. I also underwent a Master program (architecture) at the University of Southern California last year.... I am not very happy with my job(extremely low pay, and likely to remain so for the next 30 years!!poor job satisfaction,no say in design team etc)I think its time for a drastic change and have been toying with the idea of a career change, more specifically, an MBA these days.Unfortunately,I have next to no idea what MBA is about. Also, I have almost no money for fee.(still have to pay off my SC loans!) What I do have in plentiful however is ambition and determination to succeed. I would appreciate if someone could guide me on some aspects of mba.... such as, how expensive it is?Whether a part time mba is just as good in the job market as a full time mba? What specialisations are there??Is there a website that provides information on these things? I guess these are generic questions that everyone seem to know the answers to...please guide me!Help!!! Thanks for reading! |

Generally speaking, the top few schools can run as much as ~90-100k for your 2 years. If you are still in southern california, cal state schools can run you as little as ~15k + living expenses. Loans are easily available---scholarships to top schools....not so much. Most MBA programs have specializations in general management, finance, operations, accounting, marketing, and other subjects. If you plan on switching careers, I'm all for the full-time MBA so you can get an internship in your new industry. Part-time programs typically don't offer internships. You also seem to not like your job......more motivation to get an MBA more quickly with a full-time program? If you have more specific questions let me know and I'll try to help. Throw up your GMAT score, grades, where you are, what you want to do, etc. and more people will probably reply. And for my question to you....I'm wondering what kind of money you are looking to make (and make now)? If you graduated from USC with a master's degree, you should be making decent money, no? Sorry if it's too personal of a question, but I'm trying to figure out where you are coming from. |
