Age and the MBA course?
I am considering doing MBA and start feeling a bit too old - I am 34 now, but by next September I will be 35. I worked last 6 years as a Civil Engineer, did my PhD before, worked before on other jobs that did not require much qualifications...
I looked at London Business School - the range of their students is from 23 to 34. Oxford Said, Cass and Cambridge Judge are about 30 years old average age. It looks like I will be much older than their average student if I decide to apply there. I see that probably Henley Business School and Ashridge Business Schools have students more or less of my age. Do you think I should pay attention on the age of students at business schools? Each top business school has different advantages over others. I was told that it is usually more difficult for an older MBA graduate to find a new job than for a younger one because older MBA graduate has more experience and his career path is narrower. Therefore, I think MBA courses with older students might be organised better to meet employability of older MBA students – they deal with this on a regular basis, while schools with younger students might encounter this problem less frequently. Any advice on this? Should I drop off LBS and other top schools from my list because I am much older than their average students? Thanks, |

I'm on the same boat. I'm appyling to business schools in wich I am in the age range of one of the current classes, which means I am eligible to be admitted, not that I will get a job offer though. I'm confident I can get a good job proposal after MBA.
Hope this gives you some criteria for your decision. |
