TOP-30 / MBA / 1-1,5 years
Dear Gents,
I'm going to pass GMAT in January and get into one of TOP-30 very soon. I'm 27 now and good-experiencied. I do really think about trying to study hard in order to reduce a study period from 2 years up to 1 or 1,5. The reason of this is that I do not want to interrupt my career for a ling time. Could you please advise me if it's a good idea try to study hard and graduate earlier? Will it look good in an employers eyes? Thank you in advance. |

BodyKot, I'm going to give you some very honest feedback here. First off, I'd highly recommend that you improve your English writing before you attempt to get into a top 30 program. That being said, I feel finishing early is not beneficial.
I've visited a few of the top 5 programs, and all of the students have a heavy focus on the social aspect of the program. This makes sense, too, because one of the main benefits of getting an MBA is the network you will become a part of; your classmates will be instrumental in helping your career advance. Neglecting this element will cause you to miss out on one of the main benefits of the program. Additionally, the summer internships that students at the top programs get pay a very handsome salary. At Chicago Booth, this was about $10k a month for those who chose consulting. The internship is critical for your job search post-graduation. That being said, if you are set in finishing early, check out INSEAD. They have a phenomenal program and I believe it is only one year long. |
