What qualifies to be a work ex?

Before applying for a MBA program i wanted to know what qualifies to be counted as work-ex?

i worked as an apprentice in an audit firm(india) for over 3 years where my responsibilities included that of an audit manager, but in the end people say tat it wont be counted since it was done during my apprenticeship.. is that true?

full time work counts as work experience.
so if you worked for the audit firm in a full-time employee capacity, that would count as work experience.

of course, not all work experience is weighted equally, is it high quality work experience? That will be determined based on your admission essays.

1. Well yeah it was full time work
2. The audit is an ex-assoicate of one of the big four audit firms (work standards and requirements are still maintained at that level)

but still the position is that of apprentice...does that make a difference?

Read a few books on MBA admissions. They will tell you what type of work experience is valued, how to portray your work experience in the best light, and how to maintain a consistent brand with all the different aspects of your profile.

One of the things that MBA admission committees like to see is rapid progression or advancement in your work experience. So if you just held the same position for the entirety of your work position, that will obviously not be as competitive as someone who gained additional responsibility and leadership within the organization.

Of course, it all depends on how competitive the schools you are applying for, and how well you write the admissions essays.
