Help with B-school decision and GMAT retake

    Hello,

I am in a dilemma of whether to take the GMAT again. I have taken it thrice, highest score being 680, constant improvement each time. I am interested in studying in a good US b-school, top 25. I don't have a great undergraduate GPA either... but hopefully will compensate it with good recommendations. Should I take the GMAT again and attempt to get a 700+ score? Or taking it a forth time would actually put me at a disadvantage?

    Take care

I don't think that taking a forth time will be at your disadvantage... In fact, ETS sends to the B-Schools your last three scores... So even if you do once again no one except yourself will know that you did it four times...

    Good luck !

680 is an excellent score. Don't worry, if the rest of your resume is good, there is a good chance you could get into a Top - 25 school.

Thanks Omi and babypurin for your reply. I didn't know that ETS sends out only the latest three scores! I think this is real good news....

I have never read the Official Guide, I think I will do so this time, hopefully that will help me improve my score.

    Thanks once again.

Hmm, remember if you take it again and score lower, some colleges might think that your 680 was a fluke and you are really worth the second lower score. Hopefully it won't happen, but you never know what could happen.

That's true. That's why I am pretty confused.

The problem is that my GPA is not good. I know that GPA is not the only benchmark, but then I should compensate for that in other areas... GMAT has to be one, this is what I feel. Apart from grades, I would be able to show a lot of other things, but then, would it be good enough?

ANyway, I will try and get some counseling and see what turns out from there on.

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Take care
