That is basically a trend game. Finance has been relatively ever-green. This is because financial or its management knowledge is a technical skill and thus it's expert is lesser ever affected with economic bad patch. Accountancy is a different story. There are a lot of highly specialized degrees and certifications for accountancy all-over the world other than MBA specialization. But those lack the MBA perspective that is comprised of management and communication mainly. Accountants are generally found less effective in communication than MBA's.
There has been a trend to specialize in sales and marketing or Human Resource management. These are more dependant upon one's personality. My best teacher repeatedly told me that if you are good marketer by your personality or if your inner human is good at marketing, you can always be a good marketer even if you are not an MBA. He referred to the famous politicians and businessmen of Pakistan and India. almost 60% of them in Pakistan were illiterate even before now. I call such major a non-technical one. I believe that one should always go for a technical one. |
