GMATBong-----Please help
Hi there
I am 25 year old Indian Female with 3years of work Experience. 1 year before my MBA from ICFAI business School and 2 yeas post MBA, GMAT score of 710 Presently I am working with a staffing solutions Company the largest in India. The great things about my profile: 1) I have always been a starter ( I am yet to find a fancy name for the same).....I had started the HR department from scratch immediately after finishing my MBA and did the complete process definition and implementation for the organization. In my second job i started a new branch and developed the office from one (wo) man office to a team of 6, which is spread across the state 2) I have always been a star performer, exceeding my targets.....going an extra mile in my Job 3) My Extra Curricular activities are limited to one school that I manage for girls below 12 in my Village in Punjab with my father. (Its strictly an no profit stuff as girls in my village are not allowed to study anyways) THIS ONE I AM AUFULLY PROUD OF 5) My academics are OK, I have got 80% in my 10th class exam( no big feat as per Indian standards). My Gras in BCA( Bachelors in computer application) I am university rank holder 9th out of guess 450 odd students. My MBA CGPA is 8.41/10 this is third in a class of 60 Can you please evaluate my chances in do an MS from top Universities in US………I am very keen in doing a specialization in Training…..That’s my dream profile…all the work experience that I have gained is in the same direction Understand it’s a long post My apologies, but the help is really appreciated |

What kind of program do you want to get yourself into? Engineering? Policy? or MFE? I mean what career path do you want to go into? And see yourself doing 5 years from now? 10 years from now? |

I am Planning to do MS in HR
Something like Purdue gives (MSHR) As I have already done my MBA i don't think doing it all over aging will make much sense 5 years ago I wanted to get an complete exposure of multiple verticals of any organizations ( Which i have done to a large extent) Five years from now I want to be a corporate trainer (generalist) and 10 years a Mergers and acquisitions free lancer trainer Opening my open Consulting business is on the cards as well, but not before 2015 |

Its hard to see how you can jump from corporate trainer to M&A trainer to MC. It seems like you are all over the board. Having say that, purdue is not a paticular hard place to get in and you should be able to get in without much problem.
Knowing a lot of HR ppl, I cannot comprehand why you need a degree in that to get in. I mean, really, you don't need a MS for that unless your motive is to come here to the state. But in that case, something more practical like managment of engineering serve you better. That is just my view. To start a MC firm, the best way is to say, go get your MS in Mang sci at stanford and work for Mckinsey science and tech group to leaverage your current degree. You can open a shop faster that way than going the HR route. |
