Hey David!
Are there any other relevant programs in NYC which i could consider if not an MBA. Any other good schools which would accept me? Does it make sense to apply for the accelerated MBA program? Are the recruitment opprtunities any different? Having said that, what are the chances of a lifestyle company coming to campus looking to recruit......i mean they must need top management candidates at a Vogue, FTV or Calvin Klien right? I need to have a job which is also related to fashion, lifestyle or entertainment. How do i go about it? and what are the salaries for these jobs? |

Extracurr Acts: Environmental Protection ( surveys, planting trees, creating awareness among poor people in india.) lots of physical activities : M.Biking/R.Climbing/Rafting etc. Wow factor ( *** I think *** ) : worked for a startup managing/bringing business and managing/mentoring consultants. aiming for schools: Stanford, Haas, Chicago, Kellogg, McCombs. please comment. thnx a bunch. I’m sure there are a lot of good programs in NYC. I’m just not very familiar with non MBA programs. The accelerated MBA program makes sense if you don’t need a summer internship, i.e. you are not pulling a career switch. Yes, lifestyle companies do hire top MBA graduates. I’d encourage you to be very proactive in your search and not rely exclusively on the on-campus interview to secure post-MBA employment. Unfortunately, I do not have such salary numbers for your targeted industry. Best of luck with your applications! Your GMAT is a bit low for your demographic as is your GPA. This can be mitigated though. The extracurricular activities seem intriguing and I like your vast international experience. Your profile should make you extremely competitive at a European program such as INSEAD, LBS, or IMD. If your work experience demonstrates a rapid enough career trajectory and there is a good ‘wow’ factor to include as a central theme of your story, then, yes, you will be competitive at a top b-school. Best of luck with your applications! Sincerely, David Petersam DPetersam@admissionsconsultants.com www.admissionsconsultants.com/mba/ Admissions committee experience from the top b-schools |

David,
I read your posts and must admit i was quite impressed by your replies. They seemed quite frank and no sugar coated respone. Its great that you are offering such service. I wish there were consultants much like yourself dishing out advise to aspiring PhD's in Engineering. Anyways you are doing a wonderful job. |

The fact you are a permanent resident lets you apply as a member of the domestic applicant pool, which will certainly help your admissions chances. Your academic qualifications are fine. Your 2 promotions in 6 years are good if they are relatively significant promotions. Your IT background, though, will make it a little bit more difficult to differentiate you from other applicants. I like the family business background and extracurricular activities. You would still gain a lot, in my opinion, from a top 25 MBA program, particularly due to your largely engineering background. You would be a realistic stretch applicant at a top 10 MBA program, however. If we get started right away, we should have no problems hitting the R1 deadlines. We do have a consultant based in SF. However, she is at full capacity and is no longer accepting new clients. We do have a few consultants still accepting new clients on the East Coast and we do work remotely via telephone and email with the vast majority of our clients. Best of luck with your applications! Hey david!
Ash again. just wanted to add, i am a girl..:o (hehehe) n this is against all the women`s lib in a way, but ive read a lot abt b-schools considering women applicants partially. is that correct? Do u think its wise to go to CBS and NYU with my professional aspirations? Its an important bulk of time.n i DO NOT want to squander it on a school which provides the tag but wont deliver the goods.. Thnx, take care, Ash |

Hey David! Hey Erin!
Id like to thank all u guys here for ur help n support. I will definitely pass it on. I am currently counselling a lot of my juniors who are kinda clueless for reasons pertaining to the inefficiency of our education system. I have always felt very strongly about this topic n have recently started getting proactive in my efforts. Wish me luck! I hope I can help some students from India find a better education n make wiser decisions. Btw what are the best sites for the SATs? Thnx, Ash. |
