My chances for Part-time MBA in top 15?

    Took GMAT today.
    Score 660 (49Q, 31V).

I have tried but I could never score more than 38 in verbals, even in practice tests. Quant was never a problem. My worry is that the Quant and verbal scores are very lopsided. The thought of retaking the test has occured to me but I am still contemplating. Any suggestions? Will my application be outright rejected by the top 15-20 schools? Note that I want to apply for "part-time programs only" - reasons: do not want to miss out on career growth at my current job, family, high costs for full-time MBA due to significant lost wages for 2 years.

Here's the rest of my profile:

Age: 35. Am I too old for B-schools to consider me?

Work experience : 11 years in technology. Telecommunications architecture and development, managed a team of 10 people as direct reports to me as a Project Lead. Current title: Principal Engineer.

Education: MS in Computer Science from US - 1997 : GPA 3.92
Bachelor from reputed school (IIT) - 1995 : GPA 3.0

Does the B-school also look at the GPA from Masters? Or both? Which one gets the preference? Do B-schools look at the "brand" of the undergrad school?

Schools I am looking at for PT programs are:

    Chicago
    Kellogg
    Duke EMBA

I am also looking at Cornell Twelve Month Option MBA for Full Time.

Any suggestions will be very helpful.

    Thanks.

If you are doing FT, your age will be a big issue.

UG school is a factor. BTW, which IIT school? Not all IITs are the same and adcom know that.

PT is your sweet spot so apply away but your GMAT still need some tweaking. Why don't you retake it again. It can be beaten.

    Thanks GMATBong.

I am thinking of retaking the test. But do you think I have a chance to go to top PT programs? What about top EMBA programs? What would you recommend?

BTW, My UG school was IIT Kharagpur.

Does MS GPA of 3.92 matter? Or UG GPA only?

UG matters a lot more since university cannot use MS grade to do apple to apple comp.

You are better off with a EMBA or PT due to age. And you could get into a top school (in particular if you are in chicago) with a higher GMAT
