Should I mention other schools I'm applying to?

Couple of days back, isha and i had posted a query, but didn't hear from you. or maybe i missed the answer and now i can't locate it. so i am asking again.....


Will it make a bad impression on adcoms if we apply to a large number of schools. They will know the schools we are applying to thro' the GMAT score card and a lot of then even ask the names of other schools.

First of all, it is quite common for people to apply to many schools; up to 20 is not unheard of. Most students I see, however, apply to about five or ten.

Second, I don't think that the schools can know if you don't tell them. Many schools ask on their applications or in interviews, and this can be a tricky question to answer.

The general rule here is to tell the truth, unless you're interviewing at a safety school (not in the top thirty or so) and you're also applying to a top ten school (H/W/S, etc.).

Hi Arti!

I haven't had any of my students go to that school, so I checked the BusinessWeek, and it's not ranked in the top 50. From their GMAT/TOEFL scores, the school seems to be average.
