Sport Management/ Sports Business programs
Hey guys, I'm sort of new to this whole business school thing. I'm pretty ignorant on the subject as it is. I'm a senior in college right now so I'm sort of looking for some direction. I'm deciding between PHD in economics or an MBA and/or MS.
Currently I am interested in sport management or sports business programs. I eventually want to work for an NBA or NFL franchise in one of the smaller cities. Does anyone know where the top level programs are for this area? 2nd tier programs? I've done a little research and found programs like this at arizona state, umass, san diego state and san francisco state. I was wondering if anyone knew of any better ones. And a general question: Can someone point to a thread which may be a "beginners guide" to mba admissions. I've mostly been researching phd programs, which are probably completely different than MBA programs. Pretty much I want to know how to get started in this whole process and what admissions commities look for. Information on the entire admissions process would be helpful. Thanks a lot guys |

well, I mentioned econ phd because that's what I've previously been thinking about, but I'm gathering information to make my decision.
Let's just say I've decided for sure to go the sport management route... any help on answering the questions in my orginal post would be helpful. It wasnt supposed to be a "help me decide between econ and sport management" topic. I apologize if I made it sound like that.... |

If you are heading to the sport managment route, first, you don't need phd, MS or even MBA. You probably should first look for such a post after college and if you cannot find it, go find a managment consulting post and then try to find such job.
As for MBA, you are too young to go there now. So see if you can get into MC first. |
