Hi All!!
I'm reapplying this year to one of the top schools. Last year i was rejected even though they called me for an interview (so im assuming it was a close cut).. Anyway.. I have the below concerns, I would really appreciate some input, FAST! 1. Should i use the same essay i used last year? with little amendments? or write an entirely new essay? 2. How can I stress how badly i want to be in this particular school? Can I say for instance: i got accepted last year to other schools, yet I decided to wait because your school is my ultimate choice and decided to reapply this year... Basically i need to know how far i can go in expressing my interest in the school without reaching a point where showing my interest is effecting my admission adversely??? 3. General Q about MBA essays: how should the tone be? Casual, formal, or somewhere in between? I feel my essay was very formal last year (even i got bored reading it) 4. Do you recommened any of those essay editting sites? are they any good? and if so, which ones would you recommend? That's all i have on mind right now, I would REALY appreciate any input! thanks!

You should not use the same essay and should show what you have done between last year till now. 2. How can I stress how badly i want to be in this particular school? Can I say for instance: i got accepted last year to other schools, yet I decided to wait because your school is my ultimate choice and decided to reapply this year... Shouldn't be a problem. Most likely you do this during interview. less so with your essay. 3. General Q about MBA essays: how should the tone be? Casual, formal, or somewhere in between? I feel my essay was very formal last year (even i got bored reading it) essays usually are not very formal. The only slightly formal one is the first career type essay questions. Others are somewhere in between and can be very light hearted. 4. Do you recommened any of those essay editting sites? are they any good? and if so, which ones would you recommend? Maybe you should try out one of the admission consultant to get feedback on the WHOLE package raher than just individual essay. This is only helpful if you have no MBA friend around and don't know how you position yourself. You have to market yourself to get in and it goes beyond just editing. |
