As a fellow Chennaite I thought I will reply to your query. I would suggest you get more experience just so that you know more about what you want and also to improve your chances of getting into a good school. Also quality of your experience matters. I have seen people with 2-3 years who get into business school, but the few I knew were already close to post B-school careers.
With your current profile it might be tough getting into a top 10 school in the US, especially since it's expected to get more competitive here because of the current economic conditions in the US. I have no idea about Europe. But I would think your profile would be more inline with people trying getting into ISB. If you plan to take advantage of the opportunities in India I think ISB would be a great school. I had a few friends quit their jobs in the US to go back and study in ISB.

You should apply to 1 TOP 7 schools, 2 TOP 15 schools and 3 TOP 25 schools. This will keep you in safer side. Focus on writing good essays, get good recommendations and you should be getting a call from TOP school.

Good Luck!

Profile looks good. Do you have good reco's? Like PL's, colleague's and Sub-ordinate's?

I know a girl from Infy,BLR who made it to Wharton with 3yrs exp. Her profile and communication skills were exceptional too.

How good are you with your communications skills? Can you address a fully packed room of 100+ wise heads, all impromptu? If that very thought sends butterflies, then its advisable to have patience for couple of more years. If you think you could handle it well, please go ahead and write a story to the adcom. Good luck

AFAIK, the chennai crocodile bank is into destroying the eggs due to inability to handle the number's. Correct me if i am wrong.

Hello TD , Thank you for your response . My communication skills from what I have heard from my peers is reasonably good . I do not have an qualms about addressing audiences of any size - although microphones give me the creeps .

Due to some personal commitments and the timing of my promotion cycle I am applying in R2 to these school . I am considering the idea of applying to my MBA next year - still toying with idea .

Please share the detailed profile of the Infosys applicant . That would definitely by motivating .

I hope wherever I ultimately go I can find someone to play Carnatic music with! I've played the veena for 6 years and I suspect jam sessions may be harder to come by in business school. Although, reading your profile, perhaps I am too quick to judge...

Hi Josh ,

I think you will definitely find people who play an instrument or understand and appreciate music in the B Schools . Atleast in the Indian student base .
