Can someone please explain the concept of Calcium,unbound,bound,PTH and Vit D ???

Also patient is on Aciphex and wants to buy something similar otc,apart from Famotidine and prilosec,what else is available?

Aciphex is a PPI, pick among another PPI (kapidex, nexium, prevacid, protonix) or if none is present use a H2 blocker (zantac, tegamet, axid)
remember, prilosec is the only PPI otc, and all the H2 blockers, despite being otc and available to any patient, have plenty of DD interactions being all LE inhibitors (tegamet the most).
PTH regulates metabolism of calcium, Vit D regulates its absorption in the bone tissue, know the % of elemental calcium present in os-cal, citracal, phoslo and what salt of it is present in those brands.
As for bound/ unbound... not sure what you are asking

I believe that lansoprazole(prevacid) is available OTC. its quite new called prevacid 24hr. just recentlt FDA approved (handy info for when we take the test)...14 capsules at 15 mg strength taken OD

Calcium - found 99% in bone, 1% in serum; 50% of serum CA is bound to albumin, the other 50 % is unionized (active).
