Date of NAPLEX exam and legal status
Hi everyone, I wonder when is NAPLEX held every year? What are the months or dates?
Secondly, must I be either a Permanent Resident or US Citizen in order to take NAPLEX? Because the primary required ID for the exam is US issued passport and foreign passports are not accepted. Thank you for any advice or help. |

You just need two forms of photo identity....your indian passport and your state Id/drivers license.... The exam can be taken any day once you are done with your internship(except Nevada i suppose....you can take the exam before submitting the intern hours)...but God forbid if u fail the exam, then u will have to wait for 3 months before taking it the second time around.

Thank you for the information. I read the NAPLEX bulletin and it says foreign passports are not accepted so it's making me worried. I'm a foreign grad and won't be getting my green card so soon. I'm registering in NY, which requires NAPLEX before internship but without the proper ID, I cannot sit for NAPLEX. How are other foreign grad coping with this problem?

You have read correctly. Foreign Passport is not accepted. Only choice you have is US/Canada Driver license and credit card. Here the exact information: All forms of ID must be issued by either the U.S. or Canada. You must present one of the following acceptable IDs, which must be current (not expired) and contain a recent, recognizable photograph and your signature. --U.S./Canadian Passport --U.S./Canadian Military ID --U.S./Canadian driver's license --U.S. state/Canadian province ID Acceptable forms of secondary ID, which must be current and contain the candidate's signature are: --U.S. state/Canadian province ID --Valid credit cards --U.S./Canadian driver's license --U.S./Canadian Passport --U.S./Canadian Military ID Unacceptable ID documents include, but are not limited to, the following: --ID with no photo (unless accompanied by another primary form of ID with photo) --Foreign Passports, driver's licenses, or ID cards --Expired U.S./Canadian passport --Expired U.S./Canadian driver's license --Draft classification card --Letter of identity from a notary --Social Security card --Employee ID |

If this is the case, how do other foreign grad sit for NAPLEX? In order to apply for the US driver's license, I think social security number is required. But NY requires NAPLEX before intern, so how do I obtain the SSN? Anybody on the same boat or can you share your experience?

SSN is not required for driver license. I do not know the current rule but you can get letter from SSN department that you are not qualified for SSN yet. That letter and (i think) 5 points you need (Credit Cards, Bank Card, Foreign Passport with non-expired US visa, superstore cards[price chopper]).
I know lot of friends in NY who are on H1B visa and their wife (H4) has driver license even though they do not have SSN. Well that was years back but still they have licence If I were you I would go to DMV and find out exactly what you need to get license. Good Luck! |
