visa status after internship to write NAPLEX exam

    Hi,

I am planning to get TN visa to do my pharmacy internship as I am a Canadian citizen.
I am just wondering...what happens to my visa status AFTER I finish my internship.

Although TN visa is good upto 3 years, I understand that once I stop working as an intern, my TN visa becomes invalid right away so I need to leave USA immediately and go back to Canada. I'm guessing it is same for H1B visa.

My question is, after I finish my pharmacy internship, should I get the visitor visa (B2 visa) to write NAPLEX in the States later?

Is it usual process for everybody? So, once you finish your internship, you go back to your country, study or NAPLEX/MPJE exam, and come back to USA with visitor visa (B2 visa) to write NAPLEX exam?

    Thanks!!

If you get 3 years visa, you can stay until your visa expires (3 years). You do not need to go back or change to B1/B2.

    Hi, Smileysilvia,
    Thanks for your reply.

My required internship is only 300hours. So I will finish my internship in 2-3months.
I heard that although TN visa is good for 3 years, once the employment is terminated (either quitting or getting fired) my TN visa is no longer valid and I must leave USA immediately.

So, I am thinking that once I finish my 3 months internship, I need to leave USA and enter again (with other visa like visitor B2 visa) to write NAPLEX exam (since test sites are only in USA). Isnt this true? I am thinking of writing the NAPLEX exam 2-3months after I complete my intenrship hours.

    Thanks!

I had a Canadian citizen friend who did his internship in TN visa and took ~ 2 months off for NAPLEX & MPJE preparation stayed in US, He re-stamped his TN visa only after he got his RPH license and job, It should not be problem.
