When one pass more then one month doing pick up and drive thru, you really should talk to dm or supervisor adding a fact that this approch would make you an inefficient pharmacist.I was treated at CVS same way in the first store I got into but I did speak to my supervisor and he was nice enough to trasfer me over to diierent place and luckily that place was the best to get trained at including good Rph,busy store and good staff.Definitly Rph would expect a lot from you and at taht point I would take that as a challenge and learn it the best.I could do everything in 2 weeks after I got trasferred over.

Hello everyone. I also would like to share my experience on my first week. So far, I can say that I'm satisfied. During my first four days, I have rotated in drop off, pick-up and filling station. I also have done IVRs, compounding, prescription transfers (to and from our pharmacy), troubleshooting and 4-point check, the last two just by watching because only the Rph can legally do it. They gave me one whole day to do all my CBLs. They are training me in a store where there are enough staff to teach me then I'll be transferred to where I'm really supposed to be training. I think this is a good idea by the DM because if training takes so much time and if there are not enough staff to train and keep the line moving, training is instead treated as a hindrance. I'm with Wal-mart.

Maybe I am asking this question in the wrong thread. Please direct me if I am. How do I go about applying for an intern post? I don't know where to begin. Also,I am not flexible with areas .I can basically work only in Florida and that too within 2 zip codes only due to family commitments.

    Hi guys,

I had the same problem with name of the patients, What I usually do, when they tell the last name I just ask them and make sure by asking is it ocoonel with O.Eventhough I didn't understand their name, that way I know which bin I have to look for it.If I am wrong they will clarify at that point.Once I know the bin I go though the names and pick the name similar to that they told. Then I make sure the patient by asking them their date of birth.Remember do not read the date of birth and ask them if it's correct.Ask an open question about date of birth.

    I think this would help.

Hi Guys! after reading all of you , i have come to the conclusion that we experienced or are experiencing the same trobles during the internship.
Personally i was so confused about the intership that i started by working as a technician in CVS pharmacy for 2 months where i have been mostly confined at the drive through and doing the cashier.
I got so borred that one day i asked my pharmacy manager that if he thinks that i can become a good pharmacyst when i complete my internship at the drive through and at the register. she just responded that at the beginning it is difficult but i will be ok. I am sure he is wrong.
i even changed my position and started working at the drop of. As i was not fast the pharmacyst told me that it was not the right time to learn. Then i went back to my habitual place (drive through and pick up).
Let me tell you some thing but please do not laugh . At the beginning i used to be confused beatween people name and brand names.
Here is how i learn : each time at the pick up or register , i write down the name of all drugs in my small book . and once at home i study them one after one. Try it it will help.
NOW i have not only decided to start my intern ship but also to moove to a different CVS. I applyed on line and got an appointment for an interview this comming friday with the CVS general manager.
So could you please tell me How much I am gona ask to be payed as an intern in CVS and what kind of questions should i expect to?
Thanks in advance guys for your response. Let's keep on communicating.

    Hi guys!
That means we all have petty similar experience. It's been 4 weeks and I am still stucked in drive thru and cash register for pick up and sometimes in drop off window.techicians are not giving me chance to learn and they do things in computer.everything is done by tech and only final check by RPH. And my job is drive thru and pick up .My preceptor is also not caring about me and my training. the other pharmacist is okay.but the other one is only a part time pharmacist. comes only 3 days a week. what do I do??? last week my preceptor asked me to read one RX , I said it's hard to read as the Doctor writing was not readable for me. then he said don't you know how to read a prescription?? then man what did you study in your home country during pharmacy schooling. I felt so bad.I also thouht that he must be joking. but no , he was serious. he does not give me responsibility, neither tries to show me things. So guys is this a good decision to talk to the district manager and switch to another retail store under the same chain pharmacy or not?? I have already submitted my preceptor form to the board of pharmacy . Any suggestion is helpful.

Hi!hope08 i understand how much frustration you are going through. Here is what i think you should do.leave that place and go some where else .Never accept to work with someone who treates you like that.
The pharmacyst responsible in the CVS that i want to change is very bad but not at the point of treating me like yours is treating you.
So get out of there and you will be fine.
    Good luck .
    Sannoun.

    Hi guys,

just wondering if anyone could please advise me on the below? my interview is this friday morning and i am really wondering about how much i should ask for the salary? any ideas? also any hints for the types of questions they will ask me and the types of questions that i should ask them myself?

another thing i want to ask is how long did it usually take most of you to get intership? i applied to walmart, rite aid, wallgreens, safeway and cvs as an last option. unfortunately i got a call from cvs to do an interview this fridy ...to my chagrin no one else has called me back so far. i was really hoping to get something at walmart or riteaid, but nothing still. cvs is my last option, but i don't have choice if no one else calls. i am just hoping i will not get trapped into a contract with them that will not let me move on to something better later on.

i really need your advice guys and hope to hear from you VERY soon! thanks in advance!

    Sannoun,
Thanks for your responce. The working environt was horrable for me. None of the tech were supportive , co-operative or friendly. Because they work more than an intern and get paid about $10 ,we intern, we started from basic (in US) and get paid20-25. That might be the reason they did not give me oppurtunity. What I did is I worked and learned various things with the part time pharmacist . And now I am little confedent with few things like e RX taking from physician's office etc. All the credit goes to my part time pharmacist, not my preceptor.
guys ,can you write the abbrevations for me.
    QD is once daily,
    Q8 is every 8 hours,
DAW is disp as needed,Qhs is at bedtime ,
please share other ab..like these so it will be helpful for us.
    Thanks.
