Hi Naplex08. Did you ask why the rate discrepancy between the first three months and the next 6 months? Did you tell them you'll be a resident soon? In my opinion, they are just trying to secure their profits out of you on your first three months since you don't have your green card yet. One year is all they're asking which I suppose is not too bad because once you are trained with their system, it will be a lot easier to go on since you don't have to learn all over again. It actually more work to be an intern than being the Rph.
I have to tell you though that the pharmacy is extremely busy, you can't even get a chance to sit down and no chairs. I work 10hrs/day, 4days/week, the store is short-staffed and we average 400 Rx/day and even if the policy is we can take 2 15-minute breaks and 1 hr lunch, I don't usually take my 15. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I love the work bec. I can learn a lot of the brand names by repetition. As I've said over and over, I like the people I work with hence I can't even notice my 10 hours has passed. If you're ready for that condition and you have no other offers, all I can suggest is talk to your DM. Ask the rate difference, assure your green card and sell what you can do. On the other hand, not a lot get an opportunity like yours. Three months can go by fast, try to negotiate your $15 maybe to $25, if you can't get it across-the-board. - Last edited by knok : 2008 April 9th at 03:54 AM. |

I haven't followed the entire story but to answer the question about why the salary would be different for part of the term. When my family member did his internship and it was 500 hours at that time. For the first 16 weeks they paid him 22 dollars and thereafter 16 dollars.the reason they gave was that the internship period ought to have been completed in a certain time frame so any time that goes beyond that will be paid at a lower rate.

I am doing my internship with cvs .You do not have to worry at all.
Almost 80% of my interview questions were about my experience in costumer service and the rest of questions were about the reason why i chose to work for cvs. Be relaxed ,do not expect any pharmacology questions or brand versus generic drug questions. All these chain pharmacies are almost the same in their interviews. They mostly want to be sure that you are good in custumer service, very patient ,open minded and avalable at any time when they need you at work. good luck. |
