Answer to your question...
4000g of wool fat will absorb 8000g of water (i.e. twice it's wt) but it already contains 25% of water = 25/100 x 4000g = 1000g so it will only be able to absorb 8000g - 1000g = 7000g more of water hope this helps you! |

If the answer is 5000ml then you need to look at the problem this way
The 4000 g of hydrous wool fat is 25% water 4000 X .25 = 1000g of water Therefore you have 4000 - 1000 = 3000 gram of wool fat with the ability to absorb water If it absorbs twice its weight then it has the ability to absorb 6000 g of water. It has already absorbed 1000 g of water so therefore 6000-1000 = 5000 g of water able to be absorbed |
