It depends on the state. There are some states that does not require the intern permit. They are North Carolina, Maryland, Tennessee and might be few more. I am not sure about all of them.
Also Kentucky would be processing the intern application in a week. Also West Virginia, I applied and received the deficiency letter in a week. Hope its the same now. Hope thie helps. Good Luck. |

Hi TRINIDAD,
When did you approach Walgreens? The fastest one I know is Oregon, they will issue deficiency letter (if you do not have SSN) in 48 hrs from the receipt of your application, hope the same timeline for the intern license also (if you have SSN). They are so kind, even you need not to wait for the paper copy of the intern license/deficiency letter, if you request they will provide you the soft copy by email also. Hope this information helps. All the best. |

Intern license/deficiency letter is needed to start your internship, you can write NAPLEX once you finish your internship hours (some states allows you to write NAPLEX before finishing the intern hours). Yes obviously you need work visa to start your internship. Most of the chain pharmacies ask your intern license/deficiency letter to file you visa petition. Once you finish your NAPLEX and law exam, you can become registered pharmacist and will be paid more.

Hi all,
Not every state will approve your intern application. You need to have a legal status in the U.S ( legal alien or citizen). I had this problem with Arizona. Even though, I have a ss. I don't have a legal status in the US. I've got ss when I was legaly stationed in the U.S a year ago. I 'm actually outside the U.S now. To find out what state can approve you I suggest you check every board of pharmacy website. You'll find this info if you download intern application. If application is not asking about your status such as citizenship or legal alien than you're probably fine. Anyway, after checking this info, contact board of pharmacy directly and ask them. |
