Anyone Waiting For "addional Addministrative Processing"? I Have Been Waiting 3 Weeks Now!

Hello all,
Please does anyone know if one can apply for SSN before Oct 1st. I mean if one get to the the US around 24th Sept. can one apply for the SSN immediately or one has to wait until 1st of Oct.

Hi Kilode,
I believe you can apply immediately but it is reccommended that you wait ten days as it gives immigration time to send your information to SSN issuing department. It is thought that if sent immediately and the checks are done and your info isn't there, then your docs are placed on hold for about 2 weeks before looking at it again to ensure your information is ready.
Thats how I understand it, probably someone else can shed more light?

Do you mean 10days after entering US? i.e if I come in on Sept 24, I should wait till 3rd of Oct before applying for SSN.

Yes Kilode, Oct 3 it would be based on the advice I received. Check around though for more info

I had my H1B VISA interview in chennai consulate in India. My interview was fine, and I have been told that VISA has been granted, but delivery of passport may take 1 week as my petition details are not in PIMS. This is the 3rd week, still I have not recieved my passport. I have checked VFS site as well, there is no update there as well.

Is there any way to track my Passport status?
And For how long they can hold someone passport?
