Unhappy Urgent: Do I Need To Take The Fpgee If I Have A Pharm D Degree?

Good day all,

I will soon graduate with a Pharm D from a U.S university.(University of Florida).
It is a long distance learning program being done in Florida.

To practise as A Pharmacist in the States after graduation with a Pharm D, would I need to take the FPGEE exam and if not how do I go about applying for internship and the H-1B visa when I graduate?

Thanks alot and waiting for kind responses.

Shalom

Hi Mr. Cool,

FPGEE exam is for foreign grads. If you earned your degree in the States, I don't think you need to take it. As for your internship, it will depend on the requirements and policies of the State where you wish to be one. But for sure, you will need an H1B visa if you are not a US citizen or an immigrant.

Try the different companies like Riteaid, walgreens, CVS, etc. for sponsorship.

Good luck and God bless.

hi Mr Cool

in order to get the right answer I would contact NABP and the Board of Pharmacy of the state where you want to work.

God bless

Hi there,
I'm surprised you even entered university in Florida without being a licensed pharmacist in the U.S. I tried to do it myself after I passed FPGEC but I was told that I have to be licensed in the US first.

Exactly. I had inquired about their distance learning program and was informed that I would need to be working as a Pharmacist in the state I was living in order to enroll in the program.

Hi Mr. Cool,

You would have to apply to the state board of pharmacy where you want to practice then do the internship and write the Naplex and law exam and you are going to be a pharmacist. If you need to a work permit like H1B, it would be better to get an intern license for the state where you want to practice and then use that intern license to get an H1b or if you can also volunteer and then take your naplex and law exam.

Good luck!!
