Question for Philippine Pharmacy School Graduates/Current Students
Hello...I'm planning to go to one of the Pharmacy Schools in Metro Manila with a Five year program. Which school would you recommend for me? I'm a Dual Citizen (Filipino and US) and will be practicing pharmacy here in California after I graduate. I just want to make sure my classes will be credited here, and no need to take extra classes here in US. I will be arriving to Manila in November. I'm taking the entrance exam test in UST and CEU (too late to take it in UP). Please share with me your experiences, esp. the graduates of 2004-2008.For the current students, I need to know the curriculum of the school you're going to. Thanks.

Hi there,
Have you checked with UST if they offer 5 years? because I graduated in 2006 with a 4 year pharm degree there, Im not sure if they have started implementing the 5 year pharm course there, but in UP i know it is... |

I think you will have no problems with taking the qualifying exams in CA if the school you will be entering would offer 5 years so if UST offers 5 years then that's fine, I think the NABP is just particular with the number of years that one has to take up during undergrad...like for example, I have a lot of friends from UP Manila which actually graduated as Industrial Pharmacists but it was offered as a 5 year course, and they were able to take the FPGEE last year. The only 5 year pharmacy course during our times was IP and only UP offers it, thats like more of lab work as a matter of fact...What I am trying to say is that they are just particular with the number of years you took up the course. BTW, UST is better that CEU...hehe

omg Katied,What made you say that your school is better than the other? Although that is your opinion, I don't think it is proper and professional to make such statement in a public forum. Being an alumnus of CEU, I think it is not right to bash on our dear Alma mater. We studied hard as much as other students from other universities to become respected Pharmacist. CEU contributes huge numbers of respected professionals with different fields of expertise. Schools may guide students to reach their goals but if a student doesn't realize the necessity of education, it will all end up in waste. No matter how "elite" or superior you may think about your school, it won't matter if you haven't learned anything in the end... FYI CEU School of Pharmacy offers the following courses: 4-year B.S Pharmacy 5-year B.S Pharmacy with a major in Clinical Pharmacy 2-year post Baccalaureate Doctor of Pharmacy PharmD staRPH |

Oh really...so I don't need to worry then whether all my classes will be credited or not. As long as it's a 5 year program, then I'm good. I just hope that they have the same Pre-pharmacy classes as here (2sem Gen.Chem,2sem Org.Chem,2semBio,1-2semCalculus,1-2semPhysics,Ana/Physio,Micro). I think those 3 schools in Manila (UST,CEU, UP Manila) are good schools.
