Use of Azithromycin under 16 years of age

what about the use of Azithromycin under 16 yrs of age? Saying this
because I got in Encarta (encyclopedia) that it is not recommended to
use under 16 years old!!! As Encarta is not a good drug information
source I searched through some Drug reference
websites, they also say the safety and efficacy of Azithromycin have
not been established for children under 16 years of age!!!

I got some information regarding paediatric use of Azithromycin:

1. Safety and effectiveness in the treatment of pediatric patients with otitis media, acute bacterial sinusitis and community-acquired pneumonia under 6 months of age have not been established, patient should be 6 months of age or greater to treat with recommended dose

2.Safety and effectiveness in the treatment of pediatric patients with pharyngitis/tonsillitis under 2 years of age have not been established, patient should be 2 years or greater to treat with recommended dose

Azithromycin Has been widely used in USA and other countries about for 8 years for adults (tablets) and kids (syrup).
