just passed FPGEE, not sure how to proceed after (going to CA)
hey guys
i just passed the FPGEE. i'm moving to Cali, and apparently they require a social security number to get an intern license. so my questions are : 1)do you really need an intern license to start work (i guess you need it to really work as an intern, but i'm sure the employer can let you start working) or would a work visa or work permit be enough? 2)i think some of people have experience with the big chains (CVS and what not). Do they make you sign a contract (ie you have to work for their chain for X amount of years)? Thanks! |

Steps:After passing the FPGEE
1.Take the TOEFL ibt. 2.Get the FPGEC (you could only have it after you´ve passed both exam) from the NABP. 3.Apply for the Intern License, in CA, they will give you a deficiency letter if you don´t a Social Security number. This is enough to present to the companies if you need sponsorship. 4.Apply to the different companies. They entertain apps during the first quarter of the year. 5.Interview. 6.H1 B processing. 7.H1b visa stamping. 8.Moving to America only 10 days prior to start date. 9.Apply for the SS no. 10.Submit SS to the CABOP for the Intern License. 11.Get your license and present it to your company. 12.Internship of 1500 hrs. 13.Take NAPLEX. 14.Take CPJE. 15.You are a licensed pharmacist. This could take about two years or more from now. If you have the H1B visa already, you will still need the license to start working. Companies normally have to assure that you will be working for them for a long term.I think they will make you sign a contract. |

thank you very much for the detailed answer.
already passed TOEFL iBT as well as the FPGEE. I'm Canadian, so i'm not sure the following applies for me 6.H1 B processing. 7.H1b visa stamping. 8.Moving to America only 10 days prior to start date i can also move to the states by using a J2 Visa (my wife is already there with J1 visa), as well as trying a TN visa (the NAFTA agreement visa). would appreciate further input, if you are familiar with the subject... thank you! also, any experience regarding internship in a hospital? |
