thanks jane,
for the idea of a baby sitter , its a definitely a good idea . Good luck for ur exam this time , but u know what i have gathered through experience of others ,is that lots of books doesn't matter . I have seen people passing after just 2-3 mths of study from therapeutic choices only . I heard this time the calculations were tough , so any idea on how to get a grasp on them . I have just started my prepartion ;so i have no idea what i am going to do. Lets see. I am in Calgary . Glad to know you r going to appear too , I have just started studying so i haven't covered much , doing therapeutic choices these days . Do u know; that there is another forum called pebc forum .I have joined that too and people r helping there as well moreover, u can learn a lot from others discussions . I am particulalry worried about calclulations and mangement , Best of luck for all . tell me how r u doing . You can send me ur email and we can do regular discussion there. |

Hey,
I was wondering why you did not apply for UK pharmacist program? I think it would be good compare to Canada. Because they acutually have 4 profer schooling program through the University. Because If I am in UK, I could have applied for that. Are they not many job apportunity there? I would be appriecate what you think about that. Thanks, |

Hi,
Nice to see you from Calgary and thanks for the information. I have not started my studies so far, actually I am dual mind at the moment to sit in May exam. I am thinking to get the job like Pharmacy Assistant in Canada and then appear in this exam. From UK it is very hard for me to understand the system. What are you doing? Are you working in Pharmacy? Tell me what you can suggest me, I really appreciate. Regards Rizwan Last edited by knok : 03-23-2008 at 08:39 PM. |

Hi Mia,
I really appreciate your suggestion. There are some reason to select Canada compared to UK. The prime reason is the conversion fees, here in UK all foreign Pharmacist has to join a course for 9 month from the university which cost you around £7,500. After successfully finishing this course, you have to do 1 year pre- reg. So, I realize that it is better for me to do Canada process because it is cost effective. What so you think know? could you tell me where do you live? I am really looking for someone who is in Saskatchewan preferablly Prince Albert and belongs to Pharmacy profession. I donot understand this sentence, 'Because they acutually have 4 profer schooling program through the University' Regards Rizwan |

I have seen lots of people doing jobs in pharmacies as techs or volunteer but its not a guarantee to passing the exam, so i will like to focus on me studying home .However internship is helpfull in giving OSCE and i dont intend to give it now. In Ontario there r lots of programmes that help to get prepared for the exam in contrast to Alberta where there r none in calgary except one newly started for OSCE but i have not seen 1 of their students pass in first attempt ; but internship in Ontario is not possible before passing mcqs. Once u come in canada u can get in touch with hundreds of people like us in the process and get to know better . Good luck!! |

I learned from your comment that after passing the Evaluating Exam and TOEFL one can register with you of AB for internship. What I conclude is that there is nothing like a studentship period before internship; right? and how many hours is the internship duration? and how is the pay for a freshly registered pharmacist compared to an experienced one in AB? Do you have any idea about Manitoba? Thanks in advance. Last edited by knok : 03-23-2008 at 03:24 AM. Reason: U |

Yes , that's true you can start your internship in AB right after evaluation and there is no studentship before that. There are 1000 hrs approx. 6 mths of internship which depends on your employer if he pays you or not ; as an internee you might end up working for free (volunteer) most of the time but as a newly registered Pharmacist u can get start from $32-$35 / hr . Sorry, I have no idea about MB. (but I heard wages there are lowest for most jobs)
