[quote=rizpic;539438]Hi Mia,
Ok, I was interestied in going through a UK international pharmacist so I went to website and did a few searching for that.

There are 4 universities that you can apply for that international pharmacist trainng program and it looks actually pretty decent enough to pay that money 7500,it may not be though.

Anyway, right now I am doing my internship in Calgary. To be honest with you, it used to be half tech and half internship but these days, my role has been changed a lot so I am quiet excited about it. I 've failed Osce the last November 2007 and I ve applied May 2008 so we will see how it goes but I think I should be able to pass this time.

It wasn't about knowledge.I think it was about how I speak to patients in the way the Canadain pharmacy board want to be heard.

Anyway, Mcq is not that difficult if you've done a decent schooling in your back home. But Osce is about how you behave well enough to be considered as a health professional.

Bye now,

Hey I'm in London U.k
Passed EE jan 2008, and preparing for QE.
I'll be interested in sharing and studying with you guys.
{Please do not post your email on the web.}
Not too sure where to start,
is the QE similar to the naplex in the US ? As there seems to be more info about NAPLEX on the internet.

Hi,
Nice to see that you are also in London.
I am also preparing for the QE and as far as I know it is all about Clinical expertise. The best book for study in Therapeutic Choices. If you want we can share our plan and support to each other.
Regards
Rizwan

Hi Shahid,
Why not we can share our experiences? Tell me how do we do that? I am in UK, where do you live?

For Ontario requirements, if you completed both EE & PEBC and law exam, do you still need to complete 32 weeks of studentship? If not, how long?

What tests do you have to complete first to reduce your required time of studentships and internships?

However, it's not very easy to get internship places if you have not passed both part of the qualifying exams. It's even worse in Ontario cos even after passing both parts of the qualifying exams and if you did not go through their CPS programme, you will have to do 32 weeks of studentship or longer depending on the discretion of your preceptor and and 16 weeks of internship whereas their own students (canadian trained students ) do just 16 weeks of internship. I really find that discriminatory. I don't understand why candidates who pass the same entry exams should be made to start their jobs with differing conditions.

The irony is that the pharmacies are only interested in you after you pass both exams. They will never give you the opportunity to do internship with them because the y give all kinds of excuses like you dont have canadian experience, you will not be covered by insurance and that that jazz. Even when they give you a job, they will be looking to send you a remote location where their own students will not go.

It's not easy anywhere but when everything is put together, I think the canadian pharmacist is better trained and their qualification process is more tedious compared to the american but the American pharmacist earn more than the canadian pharmacist. If you looked at my first posting on this issue, you notice3d that I mentioned that more than 50% of canadian trained pharmacist run to America because of better pay.

That apart, the OSCE examination is the most subjective exams in the whole world and is very Canadain.One would have expected that scaling that exam will put you at a very big salary scale but believe me you cant compare yourself to an american pharmacist. They are more well off than their Canadian counterparts. I don't mean to discourage anybody but just to make sure you get your facts correctly.

Just a quick silly question here...what's a CPS program?
And how much do UK pharmacists earn compared to Canadian equivalents?
I am hearing that UK pharmacists earn as much as or less than US pharmacists...
