My friend, if I were you I will concentrate on the American exam, go to a private tutoring organization and try and pass the english exam which seem to the rate determing step to becoming a pharmacist nowadays in the states. The canadian exams are too subjective and canadian. at the end of the day, even after passing the the exam what you earn is peanuts. As far as I am concerned, going to UBC or U of T Cps programme is not a guaraantee for success. As a matter of fact the success rates of both school is less than 30% after wasting all that money. It is a very biased exam. It's up to you but I believe at the end of the day, you would want to go back to the states. It might interest you that more than 50 % of canadian trained pharmacist are working in the states. If things were that good, they will remain in their country. A word is enough for the wise.

Hi ,
The canadian exam is supposed to be tougher than the american one and therefore for those who cannot pass the canadian exams go to work in the US. There is definately a difference in the salary but not so large. It is also true that tutoring does not gaurentee success. In the US the english and management exams are tougher and in canada the pharmacy exams are very tough. You have to also successfully pass the oral exams where different actors posing as patients come to ask you complicated medical situations and you have to answer them within a few seconds. |
