What is MI Pharmacy Intern department code?

I called MI board twice after was put on hold for 20 minutes twice. The customer service told me that it was 47. I sent to code 99. She said 47 is the department code for health department and there are 3 departments together. If the mails were mixed up, they could arrange or gave it to the right department.

I applied on March 17. ETS sent an acknowledgement copy to me on March 31. MI board told me that they have been waiting for my TOEFL score and asked me to call ETS to send it again.

Should I pay another $17 in order that ETS can send to the right department?

I just called ETS and asked about department code. Customer service said that it should be okay no matter the department code is, however, he is processing to resend it one more time.

I asked MI board. They said I would be applied to the old rules.

OK.. So if they grant you the intern lisence , will you go to MI and start over? Is it easy to have a job in MI? What ever you say I will do like you...

Hi Selena,

I don't think it's easy in MI to get the job as an intern but you can try your luck. Because of the last 1 to 2 years, most of the foreign graduates have moved to MI and now the situation is no vacancy for intern position if you are a foreign graduate. The only way is if you work in an independent pharmacy and for that you need some relatives or strong references to get the job. If you have it, you are more than welcome to MI.

You can try your luck here. But it's worth a try.

Thanks for the link but it didn't say anything about department code. It is institution code only. I called the MI board on Friday. They told me that 47 is for health department. Then, operator transfered me to the machine. After being put on hold twice for 20 minutes each, I didn't get confirmation from the board.

However, I called ETS to resend the score. The officer at ETS told me that either department code is okay. I hope that the MI board will get my score.

About MI, it is true that it is very difficult to get a job there. My friend has lived there for 7 years and is a greencard holder. She cannot get an Intern position. Many people drive from Canada to work as well.

Also, my friend used to work as a pharmacist in Detroit area. It is pretty rough area. She sometimes had to return home late at mid night. The store she worked was very busy. Finally, she quit. In the winter, it is very cold. It snows a lot. The weather is very discouraging for me since I do not want to drive in snow. I used to have car wrecks in snow storms 3 times. University of MI-Ann Arbor is a very good university. My son was in the waiting list but could not get in. That's why I skipped MI at first. However, a score of 26 is very high. After failing several TSE and iBT-speaking. I have to quit before I become crazy. I wasted too much time, effort, financial resources, and destroyed morale of my family members.

MI and FL are the only states I can work as a pharmacist. Otherwise, I have to change my career.

Hi knok,

I just wanted to let you know we are here for you.I have seen that you have always been very helpful to all of us.

I and 2 of my friends applied for MI licence in March and we had the same experience as that of you.I think it's because of large volume of application they received at that time.

One of my friend sent an online request for sending the toefl score. Instead of putting the the code 1789 (I believe it's right code )she hit the button which says institution not registered with ETS and then typed in the address of Michigan board of pharmacy and the conformation she got says sent to Michigan board of pharmcy instead of saying michigan Dept.of health. She got her license in 2 weeks.

I and my other friend tried 3-4 times with the dept code and didn't get the licence for next 2 months.Then i called the ets and asked them to sent another copy to this ets, which they sent free of charge.I told them them to sent to this add. Michigan Board of pharmacy
Attention application
PO 30670
Lansing , MI,48909 ( this is the add MI gave to me)
Now I have the license but I didn't get an intership offer yet.

I don't think you can be a pharmacist in FL, since they changed the rule. They are asking for FPGEE certificate before you apply for your NAPLEX.

Thanks Chacko. For FL, I confirmed with my friend who works as a pharmacist in FL a few months ago. She told me that I applied to the old rule. I don't need 26 on the speaking. However, I just called FL board to confirm with the person who issued my Intern License and am waiting for his answer. I hope that he will call me back today.
