Visas and greencard worries
I have some questions regarding Visas and work permit and Green card .
I must admit my knowlege is limited when it comes to this issue. I guess this is the major issue who will face all people here who aren't US residents and want to work in the US. suppose the following, after I got my FPGEC I got my intern license and contacted managers to sponsor a H1b Visa for me . I finished my internship on this Visa whithin a year . The H1B has still 2 years to expire as it lasts for 3 years . I applied to take the NAPLEX and got finally registered . Now how can I work ? I have no visa ? Can I use the H1B visa to work as a registered pharmacist ??? I'll need the green card to work ? will the employer sponsor this green card in Step one of the precedure ? The major question is , if you are not currently a permenant resident how are you going to work as a registered pharmacist? Any body knows who I can ask regarding this issue ? If you have H1B, then that is more than enough. You can apply for green card after that. I think after u get your registration as pharmacist.
Best luck.

Pharmacist 771,
Once you are sponsored, your H1b visa may be 3 years or 2 years for the FIRST TIME. Once this visa is expired, your company can file extension (provided you finish your intern hours and pass NAPLEX & MPJE and get the Pharmacist license). You can work TOTAL 6 YEARS on H1b visa (as Intern / Pharmacist) In the meantime, you can ask you company to file your greencard. You can get more detail information on H1b visa on Murthy Law Firm : U.S. Immigration Law Hope this helps. Good luck! |

Hi there,
Just wanted to share this article... H-1B General Information: The H-1B Non-Immigrant Visa is designed for professional people who are coming to the United States to work for an employer in "Specialty Occupations". A maximum of 65,000 H-1B visas are issued every year. An additional 20,000 H-1B visas are available to foreign nationals with a minimum of a Masters level degree from a US academic institution. Employees of institutions of higher education, related or affiliated nonprofit entities, or nonprofit or government research organizations are not subject to the numerical limit and may file at any time. Visas are issued for three years and may be extended for an additional three years. You may pursue a Green Card application through employment sponsorship in any other category. The list of specialty occupations includes, inter alia, Financial Analysts, Doctors and Nurses in managerial positions, Scientists, Architects, Lawyers, Accountants, Computer Analysts, Web Designers, Programmers, and Engineers. A Bachelor degree is required (or the equivalent in work experience). Spouse and unmarried children will be entitled to H-4 Derivative status. The "Temporary Professional Worker" visas are available to individuals with a four-year bachelor's degree from the U.S. or abroad seeking a “Specialty Occupation” position with a United States employer. Under recent interpretations, the employer can be a corporation owned entirely by the foreign professional and/or his/her family. The visa is available for a maximum of six years and there’s the possibility that it could lead to permanent residency. Thanks and God Bless to all!!! |

Pharmacist771...for your info..
Say you want to get employed in an hospital which is affiliated to an institute of higher learning, in which case it most likely is a non profit organization, then you do not come under the numerical cap of visas given out every year. Here you could be sponsored for an H1 anytime of the year. For an example, most of the University Hospitals are not for profit org's. Hope it helps. Indospurfan |
