Washington Pharmacy Internship Application

Anyone who knows how to process the Pharmacy Internship in the State of Washington? They require SSN. Do they give deficiency letter if we cannot provide them yet with that SSN? How was that?

SSN is a requiremnt that you have to provide otherwise the application would be unacceptable and not processed till you provide it. If you are already in the US, you can apply for the ssn number at your local county. It is a number given to all people who can then work.

Can SSN be given to those who are not US citizens or don't have Green Card ?? I mean most of us don't have US citizenship or Green Card and will try to work on H1B which will not be granted before the internship license is provided. And the internship license can't be provided without SSN. That could be a big problem , right ?

As far as my knowledge goes first you have to get an intern position . The pharmacy will issue you a H1. You go to the county office with the employment letter asking for SSN so that you can work. In a few days they will give you SSN valid for one year which you have to reapply the jnext year.

Please check with the actual authorities for information.

Or if you are already in the US on a visa that allows you to work, you apply directly for SSN and then look for work as an intern.

Thank you hiPEBC , are you sure I have to find an intern position before I obtain intern license ? I thought that I'll be asked in the interview about whether I have an intern license from the state before they can hire me as an intern. Now I'm totally confused.
Any body has any idea ?

You are right . I meant talk to people in pharmacies- not necessarily after getting approval or a paper to do the internship. If you have already made contacts, then you can begin the internship as soon as you get the paper.

This way you are free to move in any state.

Thanks for the reply.

If I talked to them what would they say ? I think they would say " Sorry , we can't hire someone without Intern license, get your intern license and we will hire you " so I 'll go to the state board and ask them for the intern license and they would say " sorry no intern license without SSN " now I have to apply for H1B to get this SSN but I can't because the pharmacies managers are refusing me because I don't even have any permission from the state to do intern. The question is , can the employer understand this dilemma and agree to sponsor a H1B before I get the intern license ?

You cannot generalize this situation. All pharmacy managers are not the same. If they like you and want to hire you, they can wait for a piece of paper, believe me.

That's an optimistic view . that's exactly what I need. I have been pessimistic for so long. Thank you for you help . I wish things will work out for all of us . I wish stress will be washed out soon.
