Urgent help needed: FPGEC denied after passing FPGEE and iBT!
Hello Everyone,
I'm writing this letter for help. Today I revceived a letter from NABP stating that my BS in Pharmacy curriculum is not similiar to US Pharmacy students cirriculum, I am ineligible for the FPGEC certification and my file will be closed, a refund of examination fee will be sent out. This is so RIDICULOUS! I received this letter after I have passed FPGEE and TOFEL iBT! If they committee think my cirriculum does not fit for FPGEC application, why they accepted my application and allowed me sit for the FPGEE at the beginning? After putting so much efforts, time and money, I was told that I am not qualified for the certification because of my BS pharmacy curriculum? I have checked the FPGEE bulletin, there are two situations that the application files will be closed: 1. an applicant is absent on the day of FPGEE and fails to cancel the registration within the time period allowed; 2. an applicant failed to submit supporting documents on time. Either of these situation applys to me. I have fulfilled all the requirements and DO BELIEVE that I AM ELIGIBLE for FPGEC Certification! From now on, how can we trust the decision from NABP? One day, they accept you to sit for FPGEE, couple years later, after you tried so hard to clear the exams, they tell you that you are not qualified for the program? This is wrong and I do need to appeal! I am wondering if there's anyone has similar experience or advice? This could happen to any foreign pharmacy student. We need to protect ourselves. Thank you very much for your help! LH |

I guess that it might be a mistake. There might be someone that has the same name as yours. Please recheck with NABP. Be prepared to get a lawyer if the letter is correct. If you received the letter to sit for the exam, you should be fine.
Good luck.

Facts: Be sure to pass all sections of TOEFL iBT (R21, L18, S26*,W24) before applying for FPGEE. Thousands of candidates passed FPGEE but could not achieve TOEFL requirement after several attempts. Percent passing rate on the speaking section is only 10 percent. (http://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/TOEFL...mmary_2008.pdf, page 5) The average score on the speaking section of the US candidates is 22 and candidates from English speaking countries is 23 (http://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/TOEFL...mmary_2008.pdf, p. 9-10.) Recheck with your classmates and school, if possible. I really think that the letter is a mistake.

Thanks a lot, Knok.
I have heard that some of my alumni got letters mantioning that their curriculum do not match US pharmacy students curriculum when they applied to take the FPGEE. So, that's before the exam. Then they appealed. Several month later, they got permission to sit for the FPGEE. Some of them already took the exam in June 2007 and passed. While, at least they got the message before taking FPGEE. For my case, it's after I passed FPGEE and TOEFL iBT. I also almost finished my intern hours. I was so shocked on this letter. I'll contact NABP tomorrow and see what is going on. Thanks! |

Today, I called NABP, unfortunately, the FPGEC manager is not available today. I asked customer service, their answer sounds like I am not the only person who gets this situation. Is there anyone else who has the similar situation or has heard about this kind of issue? Thank you very much for your sharing!

Yes I am in the same boat as you are !!! I got this letter too.
I am griefed at this situation .. this has happened to me too. I have 4 year of b.pharmacy degree and 2 years of post graduation in pharmaceutics ... They let me sit in FPGEE ( I have their confiramtion letter that I can sit in FPGEE exam and I am eligible to take FPGEE). Today I have sent them the post graduation result cards and my postgraduation degree too). I recieved in the letter that they let me take the FPGEE on the basis of higher secondary school degree considered as 1 year of pharmacy degree ... which is not right as I applied on the basis of 1th year result card of my post graduation ( considering as 5th year of pharmacy ) I took FPGEE on june 06 and then took toefl ibt to get the required score 7 times .. finally got through it and they say that I am ineligible for FPGEC .. situation is completely inacceptable ... Either they have to accept us or they might have to come to court for their wrong doings and poor decisions ... I have invested so much time and money for this cerification, I am surely gonna pursue it till my last breath. I am going to sue them and drag them in court. No matter what it takes. Simi |

I applied before ECE generated ... they are still on the same point that I have 4 years of basic degree at the time of graduation with out giving any consideration to post graduation. They are not even giving me any confirmation or assurity that even if I upgrade my degree to a 5 year pharm D from 4 year b.pharmacy, they can make me eligible for the FPGEC. They say that I might have to take this FPGEE again ... they are completely out of their trolley
