HI. I need some advise if I am reading the right materials. As of now I have CPR & Manan's Pharmacy Management. Can someone tell me what particular subject to concentrate on. Any feedback from Dec 2007 exam takers? Any useful sites that I can go to? Please help me. I really want to pass this exam. Thank You very much.
Best Regards to all! |

Hi habo!
Yes, I'm talking about the FPGEE...I tried looking into some post but some are telling that CPR & Manan is not enough...makes me worry because I have 5 months left and I still don't know if I'm in the right track...so I'm trying to get some advice from the previous test takers... Are you done with the test? What are your references then? Thank you so much! = ) Last edited by knok : 01-22-2008 at 06:04 PM. Reason: im, mos, coz |

I took FPGEE on June 2007 and passed it the fisrt time. I used all of these stuff
1. Practice test cd Manan H. Shorff 5 cd 2. Manan H. Shorff Theory 3. Mannan H. Shroff Q & A of management 4. Mannan H. Shroff Q & A 1,000 5. A pharmacology book by authers named Gary C Rosenfeld, David S Loose-Mitchell (or you can use any good small pharmacology textbook you like ) and they helped me a lot in 5 months only. I hope you get a good luck |

Your worst enemy is neither time nor knowledge (well some maybe) but getting PANICKED! I started at the end of October and only managed to do Mannan's theory and Q&A and I still passed. What I found on sitting the exam was that no amount of preparation could have helped me anyhow as there were too many details to cover. What I did was know my basics thoroughly and the rest I just took a shot at with some informed guesses - but for this you need to be very CALM!
For June you have plenty of time, so my advice is instead of gathering more and more books to read from (by the way I found CPR so impossible to read that I skipped it!! and my first language is ENGLISH!!) and confusing yourself, simply read through what you have and make sure you know all your basic pharmacology stuff ha? Good luck and best wishes... |

PS: keep doing Qs&As as much as possible, this will not only get you used to the type of Qs asked but also will identify your areas of weakness so that you can focus on those a little more. Memorising and parrott fashion learning are simply futile as the exam is way too random to follow a formula...

Hi C,
Just the basics of any and all subjects will serve you well...even if you don't know the exact answer to Qs at least with that knowledge you can make an educated guess ha? Don't concentrate too much on minute and obscure details as it is way too time consuming and will rapidly empty your memory capacity! All of us have different speeds of learning and degrees of knowledge. So it's best not to equate yourself with everyone else's. What took me only a month or so (as an average British practising pharmacist) may take longer or fewer hours to accomplish by someone else with a different learning style. My emphasis on the basics is not only to help pass the exam but it will be of use throughout your career to build from. Also you don't need to buy expensive books to pass, simply go to the websites that so many previous threads have suggested for Qs&As (but I did find Manan's Qs&As particularly useful). This exam is very do-able, afterall they are only asking for a 50% pass rate (ie: passing score 75 out of 150!), so don't think about it anymore, just get down to it and start practising Qs... Good luck... |

Hi kgba! Thanks for the encouragement! Will put that in mind. As of now I'm busy studying Manan's Q&A. Some how I could remember the basics, but its been 7 years now since I graduated pharmacy. I wasnt able to pratice hospital or community pharmacy . What I practiced was industrial pharmacy. So now, I'm trying hard to update myself and to remember the basics.
Anyway, I know I just have to believe in myself & to study as much as I could.....Again, thanks to you & Regards!!! = ) |
