Hi All,
After collecting all the surveys, we come up with conclusion that we should bring this information to talk to NABP. We need to talk. ![]() Otherwise, million of dollars from foreign pharmacists will be wasted for this language test. It is not fair. Who are willing to go to IL and meet with NABP's committee? We need a good discussion with NABP about TOEFL iBT- requirement and test conditions. Please also send your complaint to the governor and legislators of your state as well. Thank you. Knok

Hi folks,
Today, we are trying to make an appointment with the president of NABP but the representative told us that the president did not have an office at NABP, IL. What do you guys think we should do? We have to move forward and get the message across NABP seriously, seriously, and seriously. Please post your opinion here. Thank you. Knok

Then we need to go where the president's office is. We should keep asking for a meeting with the president of NABP. If he doesn't accept, then his supervisor will be the next person to ask for a meeting.

Hey guys,
I am all for the idea of approaching NABP about TOEFL. Really, if we can communicate well then there should be no need for it. It is a needless hassle for well meaning foreign nationals wishing to irk out a living in the US. I hope it can gain some ground. |

Lenny,
What is your approach to get a hold of the president or someone in charge? We can't wait. Spring is coming. We can book our flights 2 weeks ahead and talk with the representative of NABP. If the talk does not solve, we are going to march. I am going to meet my lawyer another round tomorrow. Please suggest. Any opinions from members will be appreciated. If you are ready to go, please send your name through PM. Then, I will write your name on the letter which asks for a meeting with the president. We may have to stay longer, if the talk does not work. Thank you. Knok

We have to acknowledge the fact that we should at least speak decent English but if the NABP does not want to remove the requirement of TSE 50 or TOEFL IBT Speaking - 26, why not convince them to compromise accepting a required average score for all 4 sections instead of imposing passing individual scores for each section. This way, peope will be given some room to make up for weaknesses in certain sections by scoring higher in other sections which they are strong at. Similar to the FPGEE, if you get low scores in some sections but have high scores in others, as long as you get a weighted average of 75, you pass.
Also, let's try to convince them to accept other English speaking tests like IELTS just like what they're doing with foreign nursing graduates. What do you think? Also, maybe we can consult a professional, a lawyer, teacher, or pharmacist perhaps, who can help us write a formal position letter to the NABP or even ETS regarding our concerns and let them know that we can cooperate with them to solve the shortage of pharmacists in the country. Just a thought. Any opinions? |

Thanks num.
Please plan your strategies from now. Then, when we have a meeting in our group a few days before meeting with the committee, we should have a good plan. We can't afford any mistake. Others please participate. It is about your career and your future. Num, please give your email through PM. I will send you the documents which are talking about what you are mentioning. I am meeting with my lawyer this afternoon. Thanks everybody. Knok

Hi Knok,
First of all, thanks so much for the efforts you are making. I also would like to join you. So, please let me know finally what decision have you made regarding meeting with NABP. I live in Atlanta but can fly to IL if we are planning to do March or any kind of protest. Looking forward to hear from you. |

I just found on the web one of the NABP executive committe member works at 'California Dept of Consumer Affairs'. Executive Committee Member: Patricia F. Harris, BA
Home - California Department of Consumer Affairs She has served on the NABP Task Force on Technician Regulations and the Task Force on the Test of Spoken English™. Currently, Harris works at the California Division of Consumer Affairs. Since she worked specifically on 'Test of Spoken English', may its a good idea to contact her. |
