Hi everyone,
We have recently moved to LA area of California. I have read somewhere in this forum that Walgreens or Rite Aid donot offer jobs to foreign graduates for internship in this area. Is this true ? Is it difficult to find job for an intern in this area? I have EAD, I do not need H-1 sponsorship. I have not applied for intern license yet but will do so soon. In application form, what should I fill in space -->'yes' or 'no' for the question 'are you candidate of licensure exams ?' Any help will be greatly appreciated. Good luck to all appearing for NAPLEX. - Last edited by knok : 04-09-2008 at 02:50 AM. Reason: Capital letters at specific names, state |

Hi Erica1,
You would check "yes" for the CA intern application if you fulfill all the requirements. People might have different opinions, but I would say it is pretty difficult to find an intern job for foreign pharmacy graduates in the Los Angeles area. I have tried different pharmacy chains, but still have no luck. |

Hi nono03 2003,
Thanks for the quick reply. For how long are you searching for job? Good luck for your job search. Is this true, that, it is difficult to find intern job in California or the problem is in LA area only? Thanks once again and I will wait for your reply. Regards, erica1 Last edited by knok : 04-09-2008 at 06:25 PM. Reason: Capital letters, i, specific name |

Hi Erica1,
It has been roughly about one month since I gotten the intern license. I started my job search with chain pharmacies around the Los Angeles area; however, they all told me there were no openings. So, I no longer limit myself around LA; I am looking for other places in CA as well. Other CA interns also have shared their experience at another thread by raief, “to all intern in CA.” You can also check it out. |

Hi Ninah..
Thanks for the reply.I donot want to join CVS because they pay very less and also i have heard that one gets to learn a lot less in CVS than working with any other pharmacy. Are you working? Is there any kind of refferal thing on basis of which a new intern gets the job if his or her friends give a refferal.Sadly i am in LA county. |

Hi erica1, I got contacted by Wal-Mart and Vons lately. Both of them required my relocation and signing employment contracts. I am not sure if it is a good idea to make such moves, but since I don’t have many choices, I might schedule interviews with them and consider the offers.

Hi nono03 2003,
First of all congratulations for now you have two offers in hand. I think Walmart is a better option to join because they have chains all over US, so in case you want to shift to some other state you can still find walmart there. Also i have heard they pay good salary and also provide option to work for 4 days and then take 3 days off, in that way you can prepare for NAPLEX easily. One of my friend in New Hampshire is getting $37 per hour during internship in walmart and he is allowed to do overtime also on weekends ( to finish his hours early).Good luck for the interviews. Please share your interview experience with me and also let me know what questions they ask. Thanks for your replies. |
