i would advise you to read intern application for CA...they say that minimum 900 hrs of retail experience is needed and for institutional they dont provide any hr requirement.

It doesn't really meter what capacity you're working in the hospital ( volunteer or employee) HIPPA training is mandatory for everybody. Since you're under the HIPPA there is no problem to access patient profile and they let you do this. Also, some hospitals have assigned person who organizes voluntarily help, so they will do background check on you and register you even though you're volunteer.

Please akres, can you please explain what you mean by the fact that you are doing your internship for free but you are getting half of your preceptor's salary. Thanks.
