Hi everyone
I've met all requirements become eligible to sit for NAPLEX / MPJE in 6/2007. My profile: FPGEE: 12/2004 TOEFL PBT: 5/2005 TSE (required 45): 3/2006 Internship (required 500 hours for Affidavit Activity + 2,080 hours for Affidavit of Experience; total 2,580 hours): 3/2006 - 6/2007 initiating and submitting an Application for Pharmacist Licensure by Examination: 2/2007 valid 1 year to 2/2008. Being deemed eligible to sit for NAPLEX/MPJE: 6/2007 Receiving the ATT (Authorization To Test): 7/2007 valid for 1 year to 7/2008. Passing NAPLEX: 1/2008 However, on 8/8/2007 FL Board of Pharmacy changed their rules and regulations. Applicants who initiate their application on or after 8/8/2007 must submit a FPGEC Certificate. My application is expired 2/2008 and at that time I have not taken MPJE (my ATT is still valid). I resubmitted an application in 2/2008 to extend my eligibility to take MPJE, but they consider me a new applicant who submits an application after 8/8/2007, and authorized to cancel my MPJE scheduled in 3/2008. Another fact, there are some friends of mine who live in CA passed FPGEE in 6/2004. They applied and held a FL intern certificate in 2004 with 500 hours for Affidavit Activity only. On 1/1/2005, FL changed their rules and asked for an additional requirement: 2,080-intern hours for Affidavit of Experience (total 2,580 hours increases more than 5 times). When TSE closed their doors in 6/2006, my friends haven't had the score 50 for TSE to qualify for CA. They submitted the score 45 for TSE and a 500 intern hours for Affidavit Activity, and were deemed to be eligible to sit for NAPLEX/MPJE in the end of 2006. Since they held an intern certificate before 1/1/2005, FL pharmacy board treat them fair by not asking them to submit a 2,080 hours for Affidavit of Expirence, although their application submitted almost 2 years after 1/1/2005, I've pursued for more than 2 years to follow up and conform to all their requirements and become eligible for pharmacist license exams based on their original document issued 6/2007. Their ignoring this original document and authorizing to cancel my MPJE are totally unfair to me. I keep writing to FL Board 6 times to request them to re-review my case, and my right to take the MPJE. They answer me 3 times and have not changed their wrong decision. Is there anyone becomes a victim stuck with systematic system rules changed by FL pharmacy board like me? We should gather together to do what we had to do because it is the right thing to do, as knok, our Guru, says. I live in the south of FL, and recently contact with some local administrative attorneys to win my right to take the MPJE in a court. Unfortunately, all these attorneys refused me with the reason they are not familiar to suing the pharmacy board. If you guys know an administrative attorney who may recieve my case, please recommend. Thanks for your spending time on reading my post. Any of your opinions or advice is highly appreciated. All the best |

hi, sorry to hear your unbelievable struggle. It is very unfair of the board and frustrating on your part. FL board is not at all professional in answering our queries. I just had a conversation with a friend who suggested we all FL interns should get together, the way Knok is taking the lead for ibt. But the fact remains that we are not needed here...
Good luck! |

Hi
Thanks for your opinion. You're absolutely right when saying that FL Board is not at all profestional in answering our queries. Nowadays, they have reduce their requirements for internship to 2,080 hours (compared to 2,580 hours before 8/8/2007); However, they still keep the special requirements which include 2 parts: - One is 500 hours for Affidavit Activity: applicants need to serve as an intern in the state of FL under supervision of a preceptor for 500 hours. They also have to write 6 assignments which are read, made comments & signed by their preceptor. The date of mailing the assignments to FL Board and the date of signing them by the preceptor must not exceed 10 days. Affidavit Activity is also applicable to pharmacists who are licensed by other states wants to get a FL license. - Another is 1,580 hours for Affidavit of Experience. It's similar to other states, and can be transferred from other states to FL. The total of 2,080 hours is highest in 50 states. The Affidavit Activity is also complicated, and it doesn't make sense when a licensed pharmacist needs a preceptor and write 6 assignments. I believe they will be changed. The issue is when it happens. We should get together to make it occur ASAP. It's the right thing we have to do. |
