Program: Finance, corporate finance interest
GMAT Score: 730 (96%) - 47Q (81%), 44V (97%), 5.5 AWA (83%) Undergrad GPA: 3.6 (The Citadel, BS Business Admin, minor in Applied Math) Graduate GPA: n/a Research experience: I showed the adcoms my a term paper from my advanced corp. fin. class, nothing incredible, but I did show a little experience w Compustat and a statistical package (StatDisk) Professional experience: nothing, straight out of undergrad Attending: Pitt Admitted: Pitt Interviews: Pitt Rejected: Michigan State, Minnesota, GaTech, UNC, ASU Withdrawn: Alabama, Rochester, Ohio State, Purdue, Indiana, Emory, UGA, Arizona, Illinois, VaTech, Oklahoma Comments: Pitt was one of my top choices and I shot a professor I'm interested in working with an email after I submitted my application. He forwarded the email to the admissions director and I spoke with both of them at length over the phone that week. They flew me up for a visit and interview 2 weeks later. They stayed in touch afterwards and made an offer in December. I accepted right after Christmas. Go Panthers! I think graduating from a military college helped, it's kind of a rare path to a PhD in business so I think it might have stood out a little, hopefully it answered any maturity questions too. |

I wish !! No, I got a finance degree 6 years back, went out and worked 4+ years, then decided I want to get into academia, returned for coursework in math and economics and in the process, will end up with the additional economics degree (for coursework in the last full year) .. i actually won't have a math degree (i'm 2 classes shy) because i was planning on taking those classes in the fall semester, but now I'm going to start the PhD ..
