Accounting PhD, profile evaluation please

From almost pure economics background, is it possible to get admission into accounting phd program? here is my profile:

BA in Economics & Master in Economics, in Canada
GPA: 3.8/4.0
Course: Advance Micro/Macro and Econometrics, Investment, Financial Market, Assets Pricing, Money and banking, Corperate Finance Etc.
GRE: 600V+800Q+3.5AW
Math Courses: Caculus, Statistics, Linear Algebra, Real analysis, stochastic process, dynamic optimization
Intern: one big4 summer intern in asia
weakness: only one basic course in accounting, but got an A
Goal: accounting phd in Canada

what should do I to upgrade my profile for an accounting phd? Of course, U of Toronto is a leading school, but are those top schools out of my reach? Please give me some advice. Thank you~

U can shoot for U of Toronto.But I would advice if u seek Phd in TOp US programs.

You may want to check with the prereq accounting coursework for a PhD program. Many require between 15-30 hours in accounting.

You'd be a great candidate in finance though, just fyi.

I think most schools like to see intermediate financial accounting, which is usually a two-term course that you take after the first term of financial. Can you fit this into your schedule?

My guess is that you'd get in somewhere with that profile, with the requirement that you take intermediate financial before or during your program.

It looks like you have all of the math you need plus some nice econ work, if you can get some accounting courses that should also help.

If you want to do a PhD in Canada then you should aim at UofT (number one) and UBC (number two). I think (I could be biased) that these schools are on par with most of the top schools in the states except for places such as Chicago, Wharton, Stanford, etc.
