would S-N classes on my transcripts leave a bad impression to the adcom?

I am planning to apply for the finance PhD in couple of years and now taking some relavanet classes.

If I took a few of them in S-N, would the adcom in the future think that I am not confident so wouldn't register on A-F basis?

    S-N is pass/no pass
    A-F is A, B, C, D, F...

In case it's not referred to by the same name in other schools.~

Thanks and everybody have a good weekend.

I don't know the answer but off the cuff I would say that SN is going to be looked down upon. The reason why is because as long as you get a non-failing grade, you are doing better than a person who got a N in the class. A S might mean you barely passed.

thanks for your reply. I guess I will just drop the class and take those that I am sure I can get an A in. Have a good weekend!

I would think its not a good signal, but its also not a particularly bad signal unless you have a lot of courses that you take pass/fail. There are just so many other aspects of your application that will be more important.
