My Two Cents Thanking LOR Writers

I am curious to know how people have thanked their letter of recommendation writers. I have already thanked them in person but I thought a nice card in their mailbox thanking them for their time and support, etc would be a good idea. But, I am wondering if it would be appropriate/inappropriate to include a small gift card to the campus Starbucks or something with the card. What do you all think? Would they appreciate the gesture or think it's inappropriate? If you have any other ideas I'd be interested to hear, thanks!

I bought all of mine Godiva chocolates and sent those out as a holiday gift. I also wrote thank you emails.

I gave my letter of recommendation writers a gift certificate to either Barnes and Noble or Starbucks. I wrote them thank you cards as well.

I sent them each personalized note and a cd from a band/group I really love (and is appropriate, close to classical music)

I went with cookies for two of them and a "Don't Drink and Derive" T-shirt for the math prof, all accompanied with thank you notes.

I wrote them all personal thank you notes.

I took two of them to lunch (the two at my masters institution), and sent the one from undergrad a Starbucks gift card.
