Delay in application? Please comment!
After a summer internship in corporate America, I realized I really wanted to do research. Would you guys suggest I delay application to get academic research in business as a part of my experience?
My undergrad gpa is in biology: 3.6 from a top 5 school My MBA gpa is really bad... I think it may be around 3.0 (top 15 school) My interest is in Organizational Behavior and my GMAT score is a 770 (99th percentile in verbal and 89th percentile in math). I have some biology research experience in undergrad but that was in the late 90s. Thanks for any input! |

Your GMAT is amazing but a lot of schools have a minimum graduate GPA of 3.5...so the grad gpa is going to really stand out as a weakness and disqualify you from many places.
That said, it'd probably be better to get another relevant masters degree and strive to do very well to cover up for the weak grad GPA. Coupled with the high GMAT, that should put you in a pretty good position academically. |

I would recommend delaying. This will give you more time to think through all the decisions that need to be made and ve 100% positive about pursuing a business phd. Your MBA and undergrad GPA are going to hurt your application. However your GMAT is very impressive. LORs, coursework, work experience, and research are all factors to consider as well.
