PhD in Real Estate

Just out of curiosity...

There are a few schools that offer the PhD in real estate (or a real estate emphasis/concentration), such as ASU, GSU, Georgia, Wisconsin, Berkeley, etc.

What are the job prospects like for such a degree? I am interested in finance in general, but particularly real estate finance/investments. Does one with a PhD in real estate have the opportunity also to teach finance/economics courses? If not, I would be concerned that the job market for such a degree would be very narrow.
