Publication

Since my GMAT score is not high.
I am doing my thesis research work and working on papers. I talked with my advisor today about the possiblity to send my paper to Journals.

He said he wanted to send the paper to those distinguished journals instead of second class journals, and it will take around 4 months for those distinguished paper to know whether my paper will be published.

If we send the paper to the second class journals,it will take just 2 months to know the results.

He said I can write on my resume the name of the paper and the Journal, simply add: Sumbit.

Does this count, just write "Sumbit"?

It will take longer if the paper has a shot at being published as there will be revisions. It should not take much longer (it might in fact be quicker) to hear from a top tier journal as apposed to a tier 2 journal.

I am not sure how much having a paper labeled as "submitted" will have on your application, but it can not hurt.

Common practice is to include these on a CV in a section titled "Working Papers." You can list the title, journal, and indicate whether it's under review. Do NOT list it as a publication if you are just in the submission stage, even if you write (Submit) next to it.

The review process can take over a year in some cases for top journals, so the probability of having it accepted before application deadlines is somewhere around 0. I agree with the above advice -- having done a research paper is better than not having done one, even if it's just under the working papers section. You'll probably get asked about it, if you get invited for interviews.
