    2012 PhD Business Admissions/Waiting Thread

I know it's still early, but I figure enough people have mailed in all of their apps by Dec 1 and are just sitting there waiting. When are there usually first signs of movement from schools? Right after NYE?

Anyway, this wait is going to kill me. Ugh.

Where are you guys applying? Anyone had good experience communicating with programs, going to fairs, etc?

This is way too early. I've only submitted 1/3 of my list.

I still have a few last-minute ones left myself, but not too worried about those. When are the deadlines for you guys? Were you trying to hit the early deadline first? How many/what schools are you applying to?

My biggest worry at this point is that a couple of profs haven't send the LORs yet, so a bit nervous about that.

Didn't think it was worth making a new thread, but I thought you guys would be interested to know that applications at Stanford GSB were up about 4% over last year (from about 700 to 730).

Ugh, just fantastic. As if last year wasn't already competitive enough

Don't worry doing fine, I'm sure it didn't impact how competitive it is to get in: only how much extra application-money GSB has.

    I hope so.

At least I'm happy today because all of my recommenders have now entered at least one letter of recommendation online, so everything is rolling. That's my last worry point - getting everyone to submit LORs on time and to every school.

In retrospect, I wish I would have talked to more professors at schools - I was a bit afraid to approach some early on, but later on when it was too late to roll it out on a larger scale I had some very good and encouraging chats with a few guys - primarily junior faculty, but still good.

anyone applying to LBS? I think their essay template that we should use is rather annoying... do you think I can just upload my standard letter that answers both question but is written in one piece?

Everyone that I have talked to has told me to put time into the apps, make sure to answer the exact questions asked, and tailor tailor tailor- so might not hurt to ho ahead and follow their format? Granted, I am no expert as I am a current applicant playing the waiting game now with everyone else.... gut wrenching nerves are my favorite
