FinancialAcc14
So like other guys, we open a thread too. I haven't seen any other thread on Accounting admit/reject/interviews. I haven't received any interviews or any news from any of the 12 schools I applied to. :( :(
phdacc2014
I was hoping there wouldn't be an accounting thread haha makes me kinda nervous! Nevertheless, it's too early. I'm sure we'll hear back from most schools in February. :)

At least that's what I gather from GC interview postings from last couple of years. Fingers crossed!

phdacc2014
How many schools did you guys apply to? What is the standard? Me: 12 I ended up applying to 16 schools. I think 10 - 15 is standard.
artha
i've applied to 14. Have had a Skype interview with one college. That said, I've applied to Washington - Seattle and I haven't heard anything from them. Which is a worrying sign...

artha
UW prefers older candidates with work experiences. That may be the reason. Then I should be even more happy! I'm pushing 31! Note to self: I never thought that being senile/ancient could be an advantage. :P
YaSvoboden
31 Isn't that old. And in my experience UW does prefer people with work experience. Also, last year they contacted me really early for a flyout and had everyone out there and made their decision by I think around the 20th of Feb. phdacc2014
I actually heard the same from a professor who was at Washington. He advised me to work in a big 4 for 2 to 3 years and then apply. But that didn't happen.... Guess Washington is out for me!
FinancialAcc14
GC post for HBS phone rejection!! makes little sense, they don't call people to send out rejections!
accounting2014
Can confirm that Washington has already conducted interviews, and I would assume that they've moved onto the campus visit invitations stage.
taxPhD
Also, be aware that a lot of schools don't extend only one round of fly out invitations. So just because you didn't hear from Washington or somewhere else that has extended some invites yet that doesn't mean you are necessarily out. FinancialAcc14
@phdacc2014 and @phdacc, Thanks a lot! @phdacc, I applied to 11 other schools, mostly financial archival schools across the board, 2/3 top-10ish, 4/5 top-20/30 and some safety. phdacc2014
Latest interviews posted on GC: NYU and Rice.
artha
I have a strong suspicion that folks who are international applicants are missing out on these flyouts (much to their disadvantage). Rice, NYU and Foster (Washington) were schools that I was really looking forward to hearing from and so far I haven't heard anything from them. Especially Rice since my interests like in analytical and they have 1-2 professors who are the leaders in this area. 'Tis a bad day...
XanthusARES
Don't start worrying yet. I'm guessing international applicants won't get fly out interviews but may get Skype or phone. They might be doing all the fly outs first.
