Random question, for those that have accepted already- did you guys get a lot of congrats or other communications from the current students/ faculty, or has it been relatively quiet?

Just curious- the former certainly helps prevent "buyers remorse".

Yes I got quite a bit of congrats from other students and faculty. It made me feel welcome.

    Where did you accept?

Got another rejection today. They are rolling in on a weekly basis now for me. At this point in time it seems like schools have all their candidates secured.

I wouldn't say "a lot of congrats", but I got congratulations from the program coordinator and a student he assigned to help me. No buyers remorse here.

Thanks. For me, it's a way to organize my thoughts and record my journey which is just beginning. And maybe my experience can help future applicants, for example. Suggestions and contributions are welcome.

Good initiative BrazilianPhD. Definitely very helpful for future applicants as what we learnt through online research and discussions with the school is readily available for them in a consolidated readable format. I wish I had come across a similar blog at the start of my journey.

As far as UK and Australian PhD programmes are concerned they are four to five years as well. For example, the top ones in the UK such as London Business School, Warwick, Cambridge, Imperial, Oxford and London School of Economics, and top two in Australia such as Melbourne and UNSW. You end up taking core modules in the first and even in the second year for some schools, but have to submit an upgrade proposal to PhD towards the end of first year. Having said that, the UK schools are flexible on the core modules. I was advised by current students in my school to take less quant courses and more qualitative modules given my FinTech background.
