se9154
Hi all, Do you guys have any materials for interview preparation? I am planning to start working on the preparation for interview, but not sure what questions besides basic ones (Why Mangement; Why XXX School; Qs about research I've done before). Please help me out! Thanks!
miami
I have the same question! se9154 - where do you have interviews lined up for management/OB?
Silviatx
I think you already hit the three major questions they are most likely going to ask you. Also think about some questions YOU want to ask them.
tm_associate
A lot of times applicants are super excited that they are even interviewing at a program and feel as if they are lucky just to even be at this stage. While there is some truth to that, the big picture to keep in mind is that, if accepted, both you and the program and committing half a decade to you. You HAVE TO keep in mind that this is about the program assessing your fit ... AND ... you are assessing the program's fit for you. That being said, you should have an entire page worth of questions that you ask all individuals in the program. If you get the same answer every time, then it probably serves as a reliability check that those aspects about the program are viewed similarly by everyone. If you get different answers from different individuals (e.g., students, asst profs, full profs), then you may question what is really going on there. Some questions that might be useful to consider: - What kind of schedule can I expect as a incoming student? - What opportunities for research projects are available as an incoming student? - How is the student culture in the program? Do students mentor each other? Collaborate with each other? These sorts of questions will help you to assess your "fit" with the particular program. As you interview with multiple programs, and if you get the opportunity for multiple flyouts as well, you will get a better sense of what everyone has been talking about in terms of choosing the right "fit". Best of luck.
BryceL
I recently had my first skype interview. I was asked these questions: Why do you want to get a phd in management? Why do you want to go here? In what ways do you expect a phd program to be different than your masters program? Why did you want to switch from your master's degree field to management? What kind of research experience do you have? What questions do you have for us?
