Chance of acceptance after waitlist (Finance PhD)

    Sponsored Ad:
    Hi everyone

I've applied to several Finance PhD programs in the US and now am watilisted at some of them. My first choice now is Ohio State (the second is Emory). Does anyone have any insights into these two programs' waitlists (or Finance PhD's waitlist in general)? Is it usual to have some movements (let's say 3-4 applicants reject the offer) for these kinds of schools? I am asking because I am admitted at another lower-tier university and will have extra funding if I accept the offer soon.
And does anyone know the typical funding/stipend for Finance students at OSU/Emory?

Any info is much appreciated. Thanks all!

According to PhD Stipends, Emory had a stipend of 30,200 for the academic year of 2015-2016 from the business department.

Just rejected by OSU so no clue how their waiting list is moving this year. According to GC at least 2 of their applicants seem to have accepted the offer. If this program is your first choice, write their coordinator and tell them so. Impress them by your keen on their program and especially express your interest in their faculties' research in detail, and how your background/interest/etc. will fill in with their program. Good luck!

I got accepted to OSU and the offer letter stated full tuition remission, 85% of medical insurance paid, certain student fees are included, travel for conferences, and the stipend is $22,000 for the year. I dont know anything about the waitlist movement. Good luck!

Thanks a lot for the info from all of you. I guess I will wait one/two weeks more before making final decision then.

@Ariel & iyadnej: I see that you're also finance applicant this year. I've sent you PMs and hopefully we can share our information to each other .
